Shotokan Karate of America San Jose Dojo, founded on October 1, 2012, is led by Johnny Martina, a 2nd-degree black belt and student of Tsutomu Ohshima, the founder of Shotokan Karate of America. The dojo emphasizes the practice of karate as a means to strengthen the body, mind, and spirit while instilling values such as courtesy, integrity, and self-control.
Open to individuals of all ages, the dojo provides a welcoming environment for newcomers to observe or participate in practices at no initial cost. Members benefit from a direct lineage to the ancient masters of martial arts and have opportunities to attend regional, national, and international events, as well as test for rank at no additional charge.
