Shelter Transport-Rescue Team
START Rescue is a California-based 501c3 organization dedicated to preventing shelter euthanasia through large-scale rescue-transport missions. They focus on saving animals at risk of euthanasia in California and Mexico, coordinating rescue missions to transport animals from overflowing and high-kill shelters to safety. With their customized 38-foot outfitted bus, they have transported over 16,000 animals to the Pacific Northwest for a second chance at life.
In addition to their large-scale rescue missions, START Rescue also saves individual animals with intensive needs, such as those found abandoned and abused in the deserts of California. They offer sponsorship programs to support these animals and work with the Bakersfield Strays Coalition to combat the cruel illegal dumping of dogs. Through their thrift store and spay/neuter programs, START Rescue provides resources for homeless humans and their pets, as well as funding over 16,000 spay/neuter surgeries to save animals from euthanasia in California.
