Shakespeare By the Sea (SBTS) is a nonprofit theatre company founded in 1998 with the mission of making Shakespeare accessible to all. Starting as a small series of free performances in a South Bay park, it has evolved into a beloved summer tradition that offers a seven-week repertory season touring various venues across Los Angeles, Orange, and Ventura Counties.
As the only West Coast Shakespeare company to tour extensively, SBTS brings the magic of live theatre to diverse audiences without the barrier of ticket costs. This summer, the 28th season features two iconic plays, "As You Like It" and "Julius Caesar," fostering community engagement and storytelling through professional theatre.
