Lighthouse Project

HistoryThe Lighthouse Project was founded in 1998 by Rondalyn Varney Whitney, the author of two well known books dealing with Non-verbal Learning Disability (NVLD). Since January 2005, Lighthouse Project has been under the management and the ownership of Kohar Enemark, clinic director. Lighthouse Project is a Pediatric Occupational Therapy center dedicated to serving children and adolescents with social skills deficits, sensory integration challenges, movement delays, gross and fine motor delays, and visual perceptual difficulties. We provide consultation to parents, schools, and professionals that are working with your child. At our clinic we provide an open gym with therapeutic equipment which offers an exciting variety of sensory gross motor activities, balancing, and motor planning activities. We believe in the importance of accepting the children for their strengths, and supporting them in using those strengths to address their frustrations and challenges.SpecialtiesWe are a Pediatric Occupational Therapy Clinic dedicated to providing social skills development; sensory integration and sensory processing interventions; gross and fine motor skills; visual perceptual skills; and address other unique challenges associated with Nonverbal Learning Disabilities (NLD), Asperger's Syndrome (AS), High Functioning Autism and other learning disabilities for children of all ages. We also provide specialty services such as: The Listening Program and the highly acclaimed Handwriting Without Tears program. Our parents' favorite is the Alert Program for self regulation. Our clientele groups are arranged carefully to assure similar goals, levels of function and ages. We consider ourselves partners with the families and other team members. We offer a variety of exciting Summer Camps each year from June to July. The camps address every aspect of social skills development. The ages and the grades are slightly flexible: if your child is slightly older or younger than the allocated age of a certain camp, please do not hesitate to register them as we regulate our interventions depending on the child's ability. Most of our children are high functioning and our handwriting and keyboarding program is full of sensory activities making writing and typing fun. Our camps are 4 days a week from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday to Thursday. We are accepting 6 to 8 students per week with at least 3 staff per camp. Please refer to our website for more information.
