Established in 1962, Santa Barbara Winery opened its first winery in Santa Barbara County. Currently, it runs more than 100 wineries with over 20,000 acres of plantation. Its plantations at Santa Rita Hills attained recognition the BATF (part of the Treasury Department) as a separate and distinct viticultural area. The firm is engaged in brewing wines made exclusively from grapes grown in the Santa Rita Hills appellation. Its three wines have been a recipient of 10 medals. The firm has shipped its products to nearly 100 members.
