The San Leandro Police Department prevents crime, strives to maintain a peaceful and safe environment, safeguards individual rights, and protects residents lives and property. It maintains a criminal investigation division that handles cases related to financial and property crime, burglary, arson, theft, homicide, robbery and sexual assault. The department operates patrol, traffic and support service divisions. The San Leandro Police Department employs school resource officers and provides animal control services. It also maintains a communication center that is responsible for answering emergency and nonemergency calls. Additionally, the department operates the Citizens Police Academy and conducts fingerprinting and neighborhood watch programs. The San Leandro Police Department is located in San Leandro, Calif.
