Samba Queens Academy

History

Samba Queens Academy began in summer 2015 shortly after the Executive Director, Jazz-Ylaine Baptiste, returned from a 2 year sabbatical in Brasil. The mission of Samba Queens Academy was to create a worldwide community of samba dance enthusiasts to share, learn and grow in a holistic way. Since we began two years ago we have grown to 5 academies in: Oakland, San Francisco, San Diego, Atlanta and NYC. We are continuing to grow at a rapid pace and this is very exciting! We want to spread the love and joy of Samba all around the world!

Specialties

Samba Queens Academy is a dance academy for kids and adults dedicated to Brazilian samba dance education. We create a safe non-judgmental encouraging community where we can learn, share and grow. What makes us difference from other schools is that we meet people where they are at, not only in learning dance but also on their journey in life. Our approach to sharing is holistic and we support the whole person. We promote love, Self Care and unity in our very diverse community of dancers. We are passionate about what we do and we pass that love, light and energy on to our students.
