History

Salon 1971 was established by renowned hairstylist Chemo Reynoso. Located in the city of Downey, Chemo handpicked each stylist for their creativity, technique, professionalism, but mostly for their humility in the community. The name Salon 1971 is dedicated to Chemo's parents and all those who migrated to the U.S. all in search of the American Dream. In 1971 the Reynoso family left everything they knew behind, including their native language and traveled a long distance to a place where the lifestyles were completely different to what they were accustomed to. It took all the sacrifice, motivation, an dedication for the Reynoso's to work for a better future for their eight children. Forty-three years later, Chemo, the youngest of eight, inspired by his parents story opened his salon in 2014. Salon 1971 is committed to exceptional guest services and has a professional, talented and continuously educated team. Salon 1971 provides a high-quality, comfortable and luxurious salon experience.
