As the U.S. nuclear building program slowed in the early 1980s, GE sold the assets of its Lompoc operation, creating the opportunity for seven GE managers to buy elements of the division in 1981 and form Gavial, Inc In August 1995, the company was purchased by the current ownership, which changed the name to Gavial Engineering & Manufacturing, Inc, to reflect the increasing capability of the Company. Aero Industries was acquired by Gavial in 2004 to increase the Company's manufacturing and machining capabilities. In early 2006, Gavial acquired what is today Met Weld International, is a leading supplier of Engineered Process Systems and Industrial Controls for the power generation, oil & gas and chemical industries.
