Rite Aid Pharmacy is a subsidiary of the Rite Aid Corporation, one of the nation's leading drugstore chains. The company combines its store base, brand name, distribution centers and pharmacy technology with a team of approximately 70,000 full- and part-time associates serving customers in nearly 30 states. Rite Aid operates approximately 3,325 stores, reporting total sales of nearly $18 billion at the end of its 2006 fiscal year. In 1999, the company formed a strategic partnership with General Nutrition Companies, a specialty retailer of vitamins, mineral supplements, sports nutrition and herbal products. Together the companies market a line of vitamins and nutritional supplements. It has also partnered with the Internet pharmacy drugstore.com, which offers online health, beauty and pharmacy products. Rite Aid Pharmacy maintains a location in Lancaster, Calif.
