Rancho Adobe Fire Department
Rancho Adobe Fire Protection District, formed in 1993 through the merger of the Cotati Fire Protection District and the Penngrove Fire Protection District, serves an area of approximately 86 square miles, including the communities of Cotati, Penngrove, and parts of Petaluma, with a population of around 28,000 residents. The District operates three strategically located fire stations and provides 24/7 emergency response services, supported by a combination of full-time staff and part-time firefighters as well as volunteers from the community.
Over the years, Rancho Adobe has demonstrated a commitment to excellence, responding to an increasing number of service calls, from around 1,000 in its first year to approximately 2,750 in 2017. The District's name reflects its historical roots, combining elements from the Rancho Cotati Land Grant and the Adobe Fort within the Penngrove community, and is dedicated to delivering outstanding services while fostering community safety and support.
