Rafael Bejar, MD, PhD is a board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist in San Diego, CA. With a special interest in hematologic malignancies, Dr. Bejar focuses on the care of patients with myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and related blood disorders. He runs a research laboratory dedicated to studying MDS and has published key papers examining the genetic changes that drive the development of the disease. Dr. Bejar's expertise and research have led to the development of clinic tests for mutations that help predict prognosis and individualize treatment options for patients.
As an associate professor of medicine at UC San Diego Health, Dr. Bejar has established a MDS Center of Excellence, providing the best diagnostic tools, supportive care, clinical trials, and medical expertise in one center.
