Public Works Department

The Redevelopment Agency is a public legal entity that deals in development projects. The agency works to eliminate physical blight, expand City's tax base, create and retain employment for local residents and improve physical infrastructure. It is also responsible to create also provides healthy and thriving business environment and increase employment, procurement and small business opportunities. The Redevelopment Agency s projects include more than 120,000 square feet of retail and over 365,000 square feet of office and research and development space. The agency also works on nearly 350 market rate and approximately 90 affordable housing units. It is governed by the City of East Palo Alto.

The Administration Division, operated by the city of East Palo Alto, Calif., provides support and assistance to other city departments. It is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the city s capital improvement plan. The division provides direction, coordination and oversight to the engineering, maintenance and utilities divisions through its division managers. It also oversees, directs and provides support to the housing development division and rent stabilization program. The Administration Division additionally meets, develops and implements interagency agreements for waste collection and water system operations. The city of East Palo Alto was incorporated in 1983 and operates housing services, community development, finance, police and public works departments.
