The Chouinard Foundation, founded in 1999 by Bob Perine and Dave Tourje, is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the original Chouinard School of Art, founded in 1921 by Nelbert Chouinard. With a passionate Advisory Board and Directors, the foundation works to promote arts education and showcase the accomplishments of Chouinard graduates through various events, documentaries, and publications. The foundation also focuses on preserving the historic Chouinard House, built in 1907, and the discovery of the Siqueiros Mural, which garnered national and international attention. Through partnerships with the City of Los Angeles, the foundation has brought art education to inner-city youth, while also collecting and showcasing significant works from Chouinard alumni.
