Presidio Headquarters

220 Halleck St
San Francisco, CA 94129

The Presidio Fire Station in San Francisco, California, is a historic building that has been restored and continues to serve as a vital first response station for the Presidio community. Built in 1917, it was the first fire station on any U.S. Army post to house a permanent fire company with trained firefighters.

Since becoming a national park in 1994, the Presidio Fire Department has been the only National Park Service fire department trained to fight both wildland and structural fires, and has expanded its role to include well-trained emergency paramedics. The fire station was rehabilitated in 1998 to meet earthquake code standards and now operates under the San Francisco Fire Department.
