Pohaku Ukuleles, established by master craftsman Peter Hurney, has a rich history that began in Kailua, Hawaii, in the early 1990s and transitioned to Berkeley, California, before finding its current home in Astoria, Oregon. Renowned for crafting a limited number of custom, one-of-a-kind instruments, Pohaku ukuleles are celebrated for their diverse styles ranging from vintage classical to modernist steampunk.
With a reputation that spans across stages and recordings worldwide, Pohaku's dynamic and award-winning instruments are coveted by professional musicians and featured in galleries, museums, and music magazines. The beauty of Hurney's craftsmanship is showcased in a short film documenting the creation process of a ukulele, highlighting the artistry that goes into each instrument.
