History
The Gumbo Pot started in San Diego doing street fairs and special events, and opened its first lunch only restaurant in 4C Square in downtown San Diego in 1993. Two more San Diego area restaurants followed, and Gumbo Pot continued to do special events like the annual Adams Avenue Street Fair, San Diego Street Scene and other local events. Gumbo Pot took its cajun/creole cuisine to Northern California's wine country for about 10 years in the late 1990s and then returned to Southern California in about 2010. Currently, the Gumbo Pot is operating out of the Aztec Food Hub near SDSU.
