Wilderness Connect is a partnership dedicated to connecting federal employees, scientists, educators, and the public with their wilderness heritage, ensuring the preservation of natural conditions and opportunities for solitude in designated wilderness areas across the United States and Puerto Rico. This initiative provides resources aimed at empowering land managers and inspiring the public to engage with and understand the importance of wilderness stewardship.

Administered through a collaborative effort between The Wilderness Institute at the University of Montana, the Arthur Carhart National Wilderness Training Center, and the Aldo Leopold Wilderness Research Institute, Wilderness Connect emphasizes the significance of legal definitions of wilderness areas while fostering responsible wilderness visitation. The program acknowledges the traditional lands of the Salish and Kalispel peoples, who have cared for these environments for generations, highlighting the cultural and ecological values embedded in America’s wilderness legacy.
