The Employment & Social Services department provides a range of adult, child welfare, and employment and transitional services. It operates a quality improvement division that offers quality assurance, monitoring, program policy and analysis, and customer and staff surveying services. The department also has a special investigations unit that conducts investigations for homeless assistance, early fraud, child care, transportation, food stamp benefits, in-home support services, and cash and emergency aids. The Employment & Social Services department offers the Adult Protective Services program, which provides assessment, case management, and information and referral services for senior citizens and dependent adults. The department is a part of the Health and Human Services section, which is governed by Yolo County in California.

The Community Health Division is a part of the County of Placer, Calif., and protects the health and wellbeing of residents. It identifies and combats communicable diseases through public education and prevention measures. The division also works to combat child and elderly abuse cases. It works to prevent contagious disease outbreak at local and regional levels. The division s responsibilities include birth and death registrations and managing various child care programs. The Community Health Division provides untraditional programs for women, infants and children. It manages a health laboratory that works to prevent infectious disease outbreak. The laboratory also offers rabies, tuberculosis and salmonella testing services. The Community Health Division is located in Auburn, Calif.

The Sacramento County Alcohol and Drug Advisory Board promotes a healthy community and reduces the harmful effects associated with alcohol and drug use. The board advises the Department of Health and Human Services alcohol and drug division on policies and goals of county alcohol and drug programs. It participates in several alcohol and drug program planning processes. The Sacramento County Alcohol and Drug Advisory Board also reviews the scope of alcohol and drug programs in county-funded agencies and departments. The board encourages and educates the public to understand the nature of alcohol and drug problems. It is a part of the Department of Health and Human Services of Sacramento County, Calif.
