RareField Design/Build started out as a gardening firm under the name Paxton Gate Gardening and later Paxton Gate Design/Build. The original namesake also include a gardening and natural science store which is still open today on Valencia Street in SF and also in Portland OR and retains the name. Still under the same ownership, RareField evolved over the years and now offers design and construction services ranging from gardens to residential interiors and additions and even restaurant and hospitality including SF's Flour + Water and Le Marais Bakery and the winner of the 2017 Best Wine Country Design Award: Handline.
