Opening the birth center was an opportunity for skilled and experienced out of hospital birth midwives to provide families with a community of like minded families for support and education, a comfortable and safe place to birth and receive individualized maternity care, and the ease of mind that being close to Alta Bates can facilitate.

Pacifica Family Maternity Center provides an option for out of hospital maternity care and birthing for low risk pregnant families, including prenatal care, care during the birth, and postpartum care out to six weeks. Care at Pacifica includes prenatal education group sessions and facilitated postpartum support and education groups, as well as 24/7 access to midwifery expertise and counseling.
