California Parenting Institute is a nonprofit educational family resource agency founded in 1978, which serves families in Sonoma County, Calif. The institute offers a variety of programs for parents with children of all ages. It offers programs to address prevention of child abuse and neglect in family support and preservation. It offers programs throughout the United States and operates a family resource center in Santa Rosa, Calif. The family resource center includes a lending library and other agencies and businesses dedicated to meeting the needs of children and families. Its programs facilitate the parents' ability to serve as resources and support to each other, and to share in program decisions and evaluations. The programs offered by the institute are community-based and bridge the gap between families and other social services in the community. California Parenting Institute offers various volunteer opportunities. It offers a range of services for parents of newborns through teenagers, including low-cost classes and workshops, support groups, in-home visits, and parent support advice line.
