Ocean Sushi Deli has been family-run, owned, and operated for over 23 years. We are your take-out and sushi catering specialists. We cater business meetings, events and weddings too! Born Masayasu Fukushima in Nara, Japan, Chris became interested in the culinary world at a very young age, learning a lot from his mother Hinako. After graduating from the Tsuji Cooking School Academy in Osaka, Japan in 1971, he has spent the last four decades in the restaurant industry. He settled in Monterey 28 years ago and was the chef at Ginza Restaurant on the Monterey Wharf until he opened Ocean Sushi Deli in Pacific Grove. Pioneering takeout sushi, Ocean Sushi has been available in your local markets such as Grove Market, Bruno's Market, Cornucopia, and Nielsen's Brother's Market for several years. Chris has a few marathons under his belt, and used to compete in tennis tournaments in the Northern California region. He is a casual golfer, and for the last seven years has been an avid dancer and a passionate local ballroom dance instructor.
