Oakstone Winery was founded in March of 1997 by John & Susan Smith, and the original winery building was destroyed by a fire of undetermined origin on July 7, 2012. It was re-established in September of the same year at the former Obscurity Cellars facility at 6470 Irish Acres Road, just 1/4 mile away. The new building is much smaller than the old one, so production is now limited to about 2,000 cases per year instead of 6,000-8,000. Steve and Liz Ryan are now the owners of Oakstone Winery and Obscurity Cellars, and of the surrounding vineyards.
Obscurity Cellars is sister winery to Oakstone Winery; a family owned and operated winery that produces an eclectic mix of Gold-Medal-Winning wines from our estate vineyards, including obscure lesser known varietals under our Obscurity Cellars label. Come and taste elegant wines while enjoying expansive views of the hills and surrounding wineries from our second story deck in beautiful Fair Play.
