The Oakland Renegades Dragon Boat Club, established on April 1, 2009, is a collaborative initiative between the Oakland Parks and Recreation Department and passionate paddlers from the dragon boat community. Their mission is to promote dragon boat racing by providing inclusive paddling opportunities for all ages and fitness levels while fostering a fun and competitive atmosphere.
Welcoming participants with no prior experience, the club offers free introductory lessons at the Jack London Aquatic Center, supplying all necessary equipment including paddles and life jackets. Committed to community engagement, the Renegades also focus on competing in various races throughout the year and supporting youth groups and schools in the sport.
