Dr. Jones received his medical degree from Oxford University Medical School and trained in general surgery, neurosurgery and orthopedic surgery in England, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS). After completing a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Michigan, he returned to London, England for a fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Royal London Hospital; followed by a second fellowship in orthopedic hand surgery and microsurgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston. He received his undergraduate degree from Trinity College, Oxford University. Dr. Jones served as Chief of Hand Surgery at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center for 15 years 1993-2008 and Director of the UCLA Hand Surgery-Microsurgery fellowship program. Prior to returning to UCLA Health, he was Chief of Hand Surgery and Director of the Hand Surgery-Microsurgery fellowship program at the University of California Irvine Medical Center 2008-2018 and Chief of Hand Surgery and Co-Director of the Hand Surgery-Microsurgery fellowship program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center 1986-1993. He is a consultant in hand surgery and microsurgery at Shriners Hospital for Children Los Angeles and Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Dr. Jones has authored over 270 refereed journal articles and book chapters related to hand surgery and microsurgery and has given over 700 presentations at national and international conferences; as a visiting professor at universities and hospitals in the United States and around the world; and as the keynote speaker at international hand surgery and microsurgery conferences. He has edited two books “Microsurgical Reconstruction of the Upper Extremity - Current State of the Art” and “Operative Microsurgery.” Dr. Jones is passionately involved in global surgery, providing his expertise in hand surgery and microsurgery to children and adults in humanitarian missions to Cambodia, China, India, Jordan, Myanmar, Nepal and Vietnam; and most recently in the Bambinos Gesu children’s hospital in the Vatican. Dr. Jones was elected President of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand 2015-2016 and President of the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery 2008-2009. Dr. Erik N. Zeegen is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in joint replacement surgery and has extensive experience in anterior hip replacement surgery, less invasive knee replacement surgery, robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery, and complex revision surgery of hip and knee replacements that have failed. Dr. Zeegen is the Chief of Joint Replacement Surgery at UCLA. A native of Southern California, Dr. Zeegen attended the University of California at Berkeley and at Los Angeles as an undergraduate. Dr. Zeegen earned his Doctor of Medicine from UCLA in 1996. He also completed his general surgery internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at UCLA. Dr. Zeegen moved to Boston in 2001 and completed a fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgical Oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital. He then completed a fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery at Boston's New England Baptist Hospital from 2002-2003 before returning to Los Angeles in late 2003. From 2003 – 2005, Dr. Zeegen was an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at UCLA, and then was the Associate Medical Director of the Valley Hip & Knee Institute in Tarzana, CA until recently being named Chief of Joint Replacement Surgery at UCLA. Dr. Zeegen is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the California Orthopaedic Association and the American Medical Association. He has authored many academic papers and textbook chapters and has presented lectures at national and international meetings on the topic of hip and knee replacement surgery and is a reviewer for several peers reviewed journals. Dr. Zeegen is also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, UCLA School of Medicine.
