Founded in 1967, College of Oceaneering is a nonprofit institution that is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Association of Commercial Diving Educators. It is approved by the U.S. Department of Education and the Department of Immigration and Naturalization Service for international student enrollment. College of Oceaneering educates more than 6,900 students per year in the fields of hyperbaric medical, nondestructive testing, underwater welding and marine technologies. The college is considered to be one of the most respected diver training centers in the world. It is a member of the American Association of Community Colleges, American Council on Education, International Diving Schools Association, American Welding Society and the American Society for Nondestructive Testing. College of Oceaneering is affiliated with the National University System. It maintains a location in Wilmington, Calif.
