History

I was a Registered Midwife in Canada for 20 years and recently relocated to Santa Cruz. I have attended over 680 births at home, birth centers and in hospitals in Canada, The Netherlands and the USA. I received my Licensed Midwife designation from the California Medical Board in March 2018. I offer home and water birth in Santa Cruz, Monterey and Santa Clara counties.

I have deep faith in birth and in a woman's innate ability to labor and give birth. Experience and training has taught me when to sit back and when to act. We offer care informed by the best quality current best-practices evidence (which tells us that with normal, less intervention is better), balanced with your health and the story of your life and your family. Appointments are one hour long and we spend time discussing your pregnancy, your needs, your desires and your values. You make informed decisions and choices about the care you want. Birth is powerful. It can be transformative, empowering, magical. My goal is for you to have the birth you dream of in the context of compassionate, safe, quality care.
