Mount Shasta is a potentially active volcano located in Siskiyou County, California. Standing at an impressive elevation of 14,179 feet, it is the second-highest peak in the Cascade Range and the fifth-highest in the state. With an estimated volume of 85 cubic miles, Mount Shasta is the most voluminous stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc. The mountain, along with its surrounding area, is part of the Shasta Trinity National Forest.
Connected to its satellite cone of Shastina, Mount Shasta dominates the landscape with its towering presence. It has attracted the attention of poets, authors, and even presidents.
