History

The Morrissey-Compton Educational Center, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit, private corporation founded in 1982 by Dr. Patricia Morrissey and Dr. Carolyn Compton. Pat and Carolyn saw a need in the community and established Morrissey-Compton to fill that need. They saw the need to help children and adults who learn differently a developed Morrissey-Compton to help through assessment, intervention, and consultation.

Specialties

The Morrissey-Compton Educational Center enables children and adults with learning disabilities and school-related difficulties to achieve their goals by providing the highest quality diagnostic and intervention services in a supportive environment.

Young Musicians Choral Orchestra

The Young Musicians Choral Orchestra (YMCO) is a nationally recognized East Bay youth program that offers musical training, academic reinforcement, and personal development to low-income and underprivileged students. With a focus on orchestral, jazz, and choral music, YMCO serves 70 students and has achieved a 100% graduation rate, with students going on to excel at prestigious universities and conservatories. Over the past decade, YMCO students have collaborated with Grammy-award winning musicians and have received over $13 million in scholarships.
