The Miwok Archeological Preserve of Marin (MAPOM) is a non-profit organization that was established in 1970 to promote accurate knowledge of the Coast Miwok Indians, the original inhabitants of Marin and southern Sonoma counties. Through collaborative efforts with various groups and institutions, including the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria Coast Miwoks and the Point Reyes National Seashore, MAPOM offers diverse programs and initiatives aimed at preserving and sharing the rich cultural heritage of the Coast Miwok people.

MAPOM's commitment to education is evident through their past offerings of California Indian skills classes, conducted both at Kule Loklo and through the College of Marin. Additionally, they produce informative books and DVDs, as well as a newsletter called The Acorn, to further disseminate knowledge about the Coast Miwok Indians and their historical significance in the region.
