Michelle R. Paff, MD

Dr. Namita Goyal is a board-certified, fellowship-trained UCI Health neurologist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular disorders. She serves as co-director of the UCI Health ALS Neuromuscular Center, one of only six Muscular Dystrophy Association-designated centers in California. Her clinical interests include muscular dystrophies, muscle disease, myasthenia gravis, myositis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and demyelinating neuropathies. Certified in electrodiagnostic medicine, she performs a number of procedures including adult and pediatric electromyogram (EMG), single-fiber EMG and muscle biopsies. Goyal received her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Bridgetown, Barbados. She completed a residency in neurology at the University of Chicago Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in electromyography, clinical neurophysiology and neuromuscular disease at Harvard University’s Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where she subsequently served as a faculty member. Her research interests include ALS, myositis, muscular dystrophies, myopathies and myasthenia gravis. She is the lead site investigator for several clinical trials involving neuromuscular diseases, with a special focus on ALS and myositis, and directs neurology clinical trials for the UCI School of Medicine. She also is the author of several published articles on neuromuscular disorders and is a frequent guest speaker at national conferences. In addition to her clinical and research work, she is a mentor to neurology fellows and residents and serves as director of the Department of Neurology's neuromuscular medicine fellowship program.

Dr. Frank P.K. Hsu is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon who specializes in cerebrovascular, minimally invasive and open skull base surgery. He has extensive expertise in radiosurgery and functional surgery for movement disorders, deep brain stimulation, epilepsy and pain. He also is highly skilled at treating patients with aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations and cavernous malformations, as well as malignant and benign tumors of the brain and spine, including pituitary tumors and meningiomas. Hsu received his medical degree from the University of Maryland in Bethesda, where he previously earned a PhD in mechanical engineering. He completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in neurological surgery at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. He completed fellowship training in cerebrovascular and skull base surgery at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Ariz. He returned to Oregon Health Sciences University for fellowship training in functional stereotactic and pain surgery. His research interests are in the biomechanics of cerebral aneurysms, functional neurosurgery and epilepsy. Before coming to UCI Medical Center, he served as director of functional, cerebrovascular and skull base surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, Calif.. Hsu, who also speaks Mandarin and Taiwanese.

Dr. Russell N. Stitzlein is a fellowship-trained UCI Health orthopaedic surgeon who specializes adult and pediatric orthopaedic oncology, bone and soft-tissue tumors as well as hip and knee replacement, . His clinical interests include treatment of malignant tumors of the bones or soft tissues (e.g., muscles, nerves, tendons, fat), including tumors that have metastasized from other primary tumor sites (e.g., lung, breast, prostate, kidney, thyroid) and limb salvage. He also treats adults with hip and knee arthritis and . Stitzlein earned his medical degree with special qualifications in biomedical research at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University. He completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, followed by a fellowship in musculoskeletal oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Stitzlein has published several research papers and book chapters in his field. His research interests include outcomes after limb salvage surgery in orthopaedic oncology, as well as developing and using custom guides and implants for bone tumor patients.
