Dr. Shune, who grew up in China, is passionate about treating aging patients, who she believes need to be treated as a special group, with an emphasis on quality of life, lifestyle education, and comprehensive evaluations.My job is to motivate my patients to be in their very best health and function, she says.Dr. Shune comes to Hoag Medical Group from University of California, San Diego, where she was an assistant clinical professor, and also from San Diego Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where she worked in general internal medicine/geriatrics at the Oceanside clinic.She says she is very proud to be part of the new team at Hoag and is excited to help create something very special for the community.Dr. Shune earned her medical degree from Harbin Medical University in China and served her residency in internal medicine at Wayne State University in Michigan, where she also completed a fellowship in geriatrics.A resident of Irvine, Dr. Shune's son is studying to be a doctor, and her teenage daughter is a pianist attending Orange County School of the Arts.

Dependable. That is one word that best describes Dr. Wang and his role as a physician. He strongly believes that everyone is entitled to a physician who will be their partner though every life stage and wants his patients to know that they can count on him for reliable and high-quality care.Dr. Wang chose to be a primary care physician in order to enable his patients to get the most out of life. He strongly believes in prevention to maintain good health as well as working with patients to mitigate small problems before they become a bigger concern. He enjoys internal medicine as it allows him to practice a wide depth of knowledge and treat a variety of conditions.As Dr. Wang states, “I really love my job and the best part is the people.” He takes the time to listen to his patients, gain their input and formulate a plan together to help his patients reach their health goals. He enjoys learning about his patients – their culture, background, hobbies – so he can personalize his approach to their health care.Fluent in English and Mandarin, Dr. Wang attended medical school at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and completed his residency at Summa Akron City Hospital. He is excited to relocate to Southern California and serve the local community.Outside of work, Dr. Wang and his wife enjoy playing with their 3-year old Maltese, rooting for Cleveland sports teams, and exploring restaurants.

Growing up as a child of an optometrist, Dr. Syed always wanted a career centered on patient care. Dr. Syed selected internal medicine because she enjoys a comprehensive view of each patient and helping improve their daily quality of life. Her approach to patient care is two-fold. First, she focuses on understanding her patients’ concerns. Second, as needed, she considers the patient’s personal, cultural and religious preferences. With this knowledge, she collaborates with her patients to craft an individualized care plan best suited for each person. As an internist, Dr. Syed is enthusiastic about preventative care as well as supporting patients through their illnesses. She likes serving as a resource and guiding her patients through all stages of adulthood. She shares, “I appreciate the trust my patients place in me and aim to aid them in setting and achieving their own health goals.” Born and raised in Orange County, Dr. Syed is thrilled to return to be a part of Hoag Medical Group, which allows her the opportunity to provide her patients with excellent health care services. Dr. Syed received her undergraduate degree from the University of California Irvine and earned her medical degree from Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University. She then completed her Internal Medicine residency at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, affiliated with Case Western Reserve University. Additionally, she is able to treat a diverse population as she has conversational skills in Spanish and Urdu. Outside of work, Dr. Syed spends her free time experimenting with cooking and ways to stay active.
