The American Red Cross in Visalia, CA is a historic organization that works every day to prevent and alleviate human suffering. American Red Cross helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. We provide domestic disaster relief, blood collection and distribution services, preparedness information, health and safety training, service to the armed forces, and international services.

As we begin 2009 our desire is to first and foremost thank every donor, corporate sponsor and volunteer for your tremendous help and support. Your efforts have staved off dire and tragic situations for a significant number of children and their parents. Visalia Emergency Aid Council's mission continues to be realized through generous individual monthly donations, through corporate partners and event sponsors as well as through the community in general by way of the VEAC Thrift Store, the Vehicle Donation Program, and the annual Race Against Hunger. The hundreds of volunteers who continually give their time and energy help in very practical ways at the Food Pantry and the Thrift Store on a daily basis as well as those who volunteer during our fundraising events. This year we expect to help a growing number of new families due to the economic situation that has directly affected every one of us. Unfortunately, some families will not fare too well'' ith your continued help, VEAC will be here To Serve with Respect and Compassion. We fund our operation through the VEAC Thrift Store on Houston, our Car Donation Program and fund raising events. As our major fund raising event, the Race Against Hunger is a critical source of revenue that helps continue the day to day operations required to succeed in VEAC's mission. This event helps elevate the awareness of poverty in our area while raising funds from Corporate Sponsorships and Individual race pledges to helps VEAC provide basic necessities such as food, clothing and shelter as well as other emergency services year-round to families with children and frail elders that currently live in poverty-stricken conditions in our community. The smallest donation of time, money and other resources goes a long way. Fully, 100% of your donated dollars go directly to those families with children in crises, our elderly currently living in poverty while other resources assures that Visalia Emergency Aid Council continues its function as an effective safety net for those who would otherwise have nowhere else to turn.
