McKinley William Elementary School

McKinley Elementary School provides learning opportunities to more than 900 students in kindergarten through grade five. It offers several phonics and literacy programs, including open court, highpoint and accelerated reader. The school s focus group provides an opportunity for students to work on identified skills with teachers. It has a boys and girls club that has created an academic after-school program to provide homework support and enrichment activities. McKinley Elementary School offers parenting classes and workshops that are designed to help parents work with their children regarding their academic, social and emotional growth. It also provides an art therapy program, Dramatic Results, for selected students, which is designed to help them manage anger and develop their socialization skills. The school additionally provides literacy and staff development training programs for teachers. McKinley Elementary School is a part of the Long Beach Unified School District and is located in Long Beach, Calif.
