Matson Navigation Company is one of the leading United States-flag carriers that operates in the Pacific transportation industry. It is a major carrier of containerized freight and automobiles between the West Coast and Hawaii, as well as Guam and the mid-Pacific. Matson Navigation Company is the largest subsidiary of Alexander & Baldwin. In 2006, the company introduced weekly service from Shanghai and Ningbo, China, to Long Beach, Calif. Founded more than 120 years ago, Matson Navigation Company has been involved in the development of tourism in Hawaii through its luxury liners and Waikiki hotels, wartime duty during World War II and the introduction of containerization in the Pacific. Headquartered in Oakland, Calif., Matson Navigation Company has locations throughout the United States. It has two subsidiaries, Matson Integrated Logistics and Matson Terminals.
