Marine Life Studies, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Soquel, CA, is dedicated to the research, conservation, and education of marine life. Led by founder Peggy Stap and a team of passionate individuals, they conduct vital research on humpback whales and other marine mammals, with a focus on long-term social affiliation patterns. Through their Whale Entanglement Team and Lost Abandoned Fishing Gear Removal Project, they actively work towards the protection and preservation of marine ecosystems. Marine Life Studies also engages in education outreach programs and offers opportunities for volunteers to contribute to their important work. Ocean Odyssey, a documentary filmed in Maui by the Tokyo Broadcasting Systems, showcases the incredible beauty of our oceans and the majestic humpback whales in their natural habitat. Directed by Naomi Kawaguchi and starring award-winning actor Hideaki Ito, the film features Peggy Stap, the Founder and Director of Marine Life Studies, who had the privilege of working with the Japanese film crew to document the behaviors of these magnificent creatures. The film serves as a fundraiser for the Jeremy Montes Tap Out Leukemia Foundation, supporting a brave young man in his fight against leukemia.
