St. John's Well Child & Family Center provides a variety of primary and preventive medical, dental and mental health services. The center was founded in 1965 by the members of St. John s Episcopal Church and the Los Angeles Pediatric Society. Its chronic disease management programs foster independence and self-management skills in patients. St. John's Well Child & Family Center organizes cooking classes and exercise sessions for diabetic patients. The center s community-based mental health programs include workshops on several mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety caused by poverty, substandard housing conditions and violence. It has partnerships with Orthopaedic Hospital and the Southside Coalition of Community Health Centers. St. John's Well Child & Family Center maintains a location in Compton, Calif.
