History
The owner of Maasai Safaris began his development of the company in 2010 after living in Tanzania and falling in love with its people and it's unique landscape. Douglas, (the owner) always had an obsession with animals and the allure of African adventure. While living in Kenya, Douglas took a trip south into Tanzania to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro and go on his first safari. While on the mountain, he met a young Maasai man named Pius. He and Douglas became friends quickly due to their similar nature. Pius had always wanted to become a safari driver, and Douglas had always wanted to meet and learn about the Maasai people. Pius could not afford to pay for university wildlife training, so Douglas made him a deal.
