High Desert Health System, based in Lancaster, Calif., is a multiservice ambulatory care center that is a facility of the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. The department operates the center through the office of ambulatory care, which is responsible for the overall management of the public-private partnership program that includes the development of requests for proposals, contract management, monitoring and development, claim adjudication, and program planning and evaluation. The office of ambulatory care works in collaboration with community health care organizations, contractors and health advocates to plan, implement and evaluate ambulatory care services throughout the county. It also works with department managers and community stakeholders to develop ambulatory care initiatives and policies throughout the United States.
