In 1973, Tom and Jenny Lee entered the children's wear business on a friend's suggestion by opening a retail clothing store in Long Beach, CA. The store specialized in dressy infant and toddler apparel, a segment of the children's clothing industry that the Lees thought was being largely ignored by retailers.
