History

The Lions Center for the Blind was founded in 1939 as the Alameda-Contra Costa Central Committee for the Blind. The Center was chartered in 1942 as a non-profit corporation dedicated to serving the blind and visually impaired in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties through education, training, social activities, and fellowship.

Specialties

We provide a variety of educational, supportive and employment services for the blind and visually impaired. Low Vision Clinic, Orientation and Mobility, Independent Living Skills, Braille, Computers, Assistive Technology, Employment Services, Living with Vision Loss classes, educational workshops, community outreach.
