The Lincoln Park Steps, located at the western end of California Street in San Francisco, are a historic staircase that dates back to the early 1900s. Revitalized in 2007 through the efforts of Friends of Lincoln Park founders Anna Yatroussis and Meg Autry, the project aimed to restore the steps from years of neglect into a stunning public art installation.
With the support of the San Francisco Parks Alliance and contributions from local architects and builders, the renovation culminated in a remarkable beaux arts-inspired design created by renowned artist Aileen Barr. This revitalization not only preserved the steps' historical significance but also ensured their enduring presence in the city for generations to come.
