Lightning Auto, Boat & RV Detail

History

I started detailing for Cosmetic Car Care in 1984 for $5.50 an hour. This company had contracts with many major auto manufacturers to get their new cars ready for shows at many major convention centers around the country, and I traveled extensively to help get over 100 cars at a time, show-ready as fast, and as perfect as possible. This company also detailed privately owned cars and a small number of RVs and boats. I was the person who did most of the engine cleanings, and I learned to love doing it more than any other aspect of detailing. I briefly worked for a detail shop in Huntington beach, who's owner/operator was completely clueless, and in my opinion, an absolute hack. From him, I learned what NOT to do. My last job before going out on my own was for Garden Grove Nissan. There, I had a free hand to do as I pleased, and made my final plan to go out on my own in November 1989. I've never looked back.
