Leather Memoir at Ringold Alley
Leather Memoir is an artistic project located in Ringold Alley, San Francisco, honoring the rich history of the leather and LGBTQ+ community in the South of Market (SoMa) district. The project features custom-fabricated granite installations that celebrate notable figures and institutions significant to the area's leather culture.
Designed by Miller Company Landscape Architects, this initiative includes 30 commemorative markers highlighting local icons alongside a boot print honoring community leader Jim Meko. The installation reflects a melding of past and present, with historical narratives etched into black granite, symbolizing the ongoing legacy of the leather scene in San Francisco.
