I've been on this trail a few times and really enjoy it. Only issue is there are some homeless walking around occasionally but they don't really bother you, although I would still be careful....

It's a bike trail, restroom stop and parking lot. I've only rode down (and around) to the Santa Fe Dam, and even then that's a good workout with all the hills and slopes. I hope to go further down...
