History

The Lamp Lighter Inn is one of the oldest Inns in California. Built around the the turn of the century when Carmel was thriving with artists, poets and dairy farms. Its great location and the cuteness of the two little cottages that front Ocean Ave Lamp Lighter has long been a landmark of Carmel. I have a feeling our little courtyard is the most photographed spot in Carmel. All day long I sit at the front desk and watch folks point, photograph and try to capture the charm. It is really a cool thing to see from a hospitality stand point. We are pretty proud of this little Inn. In February of 2008 Mr. Dennis LeVett and I purchased the Sunset House which is a large house built as a weekly boarding home in 1960. We then combined the two properties giving us a parking lot and since we now had two laundry rooms we converted one of the into a community area for our complimentary wine and cheese gathering in the evening. Even if you are staying at one of the other Inns please stop by.
