The City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks oversees a variety of facilities and services designed to enhance community well-being and enjoyment. Among their offerings are parks, swimming pools, dog parks, and historical sites, all aimed at providing recreational opportunities for residents and visitors alike.

Founded under the City's first Freeholder Charter in 1889, the department is dedicated to preserving public lands for community use, rooted in the original Spanish land grants. Their commitment to accessibility and community feedback is evident through initiatives that encourage residents to share their experiences and suggestions for improvement.
