Laguna Writers Workshops and Retreats

History

These groups were inspired by the Amherst Writers and Artists method (AWA) created by Pat Schneider. They officially began in San Francisco, in a studio apartment on Laguna St.

Specialties

Laguna Writers Workshops are facilitated, generative writing groups. Groups are no larger than 10 for the weekly meetings, and 12 for the weekend retreats. Prompts are given to the group, followed by timed writings and voluntary reading. Responses focus on what's working, what participants like and remember. Critical feedback is offered only during manuscript/draft presentations.
