La Madera Elementary provides general academic programs to more than 600 students in kindergarten through grade six. The school conducts classes in reading, writing, math and science. It offers a range of activities that includes music, dance and physical education. It provides various before- and after-school programs. La Madera Elementary also operates a band, chorus and student council. The school offers the English Language Learners program. It operates a parent-teacher association that conducts various types of fundraising activities and special events, such as talent shows, cultural assemblies and family nights. In addition, the school provides food and guidance counseling. La Madera Elementary is a part of the Saddleback Valley Unified School District, which is headquartered in Mission Viejo, Calif.
